The first light of Dawn provides a warm glow of color in the hills of Northern California.

A beautiful image. The tree is magical and the colour tonality throughout the frame is so eye pleasing.

What a piece of luck that tree was there :) Scott this is just so beautiful, right down to the way you have placed the sweep of the hill. What an eye you have!

I love how there is just the slightest bit of light above the foreground rock, reflecting on the grass, just enought to guide and attaract the eye to that restfull spot after being entertained by the magnificent colors and sillhouette! I can hear John Denver singing that song "Gee it's good to be back home, again" making me homesick, Only this image is WAY better than that song! Beautiful, Scott!! - thank you!

I'm smiling, because it wasn't "luck" at all that you chose to capture the scene as you did. ;D
This would be a perfect location for a four-seasons set of images, with the changing colors and light.
Superb, as usual!

@Judy aka L@dybug: Judy thanks for the comment - most of my images involve planning, visualization of the scene, and it takes a lot of work to capture the actual image from the composition to the light!

Andrea from Regina, Canada

Beautiful colours! I wish we had oak trees...

Did you plant the tree yourself? Or paint the sky? Are you a genius???

Excellent composition with this bent tree just off center and silhouetted against the sky. Shooting into the sun and still maintaining foreground grass color is great! ...nice shot.
