Sequoia National Park Twilight

Posted by
Scott F. Schilling (San Martin, United States) on 7 November 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This is a composite of 3 images taken over an hour period after sunset from Moro Rock in Sequoia National Park - looking west towards the Central Valley of California. The Moon and Saturn or Jupiter - not sure which one?, are close together in the upper left hand side of the frame.

NIKON D3 15 second F/13.0 ISO 800 17 mm

Nigel from Avening, United Kingdom

There's a cosmic quality about this picture Scott - can you realyy see the stars like that ? It's super.

7 Nov 2009 5:42am

@Nigel: This is the exact same image taken over approximately 1 hour - each image - 20 minutes apart - the stars are so bright in the higher elevations that I can only process the image used for the sky portion to get a small portion of the stars to show.

A gorgeous night sky, where fairy stars meet orange glows of the sun in the distance. A powerful scape itself, a misty blaket covering gently mountain tops. It's a pure wonder. Divine. A round of applause for you Scott. You're definitely talented.
