In the Lake Powell region there are some very remote areas that are difficult to access but are incredible to see - if you can get there. This is the West Canyon area of Lake Powell, Arizona. You have to take a boat up this canyon and anchor the boat in about 2 feet of water. Then wade through a couple hundred yards of water filled with mud and debris. The West Canyon has some incredible sights and has a small stream that flows through it with an occasional beaver pond. As you hike further up the canyon it begins to narrow - this is about a two mile hike into this location. In order to take this specific photograph we had to swim through a deep pool of water and carry the camera gear overhead, being very careful not to get the gear wet!
