The Eye of God Arch - Monument ValleyPosted by Scott F. Schilling (San Martin, United States) on 25 June 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This is known as the Eye of God Arch, or God's Eye Arch on the southern end of Monument Valley. This is another location that requires a Guide to accompany you. The location is a bit of a challenge to photograph due to its height and the rock formations around it. The arch is amazing because as you stand under it, it does look like the eye of God staring at you. On the lower left of the image are some stacked rocks that are from an ancient Anasazi building probably about 1,000 years ago. There were some clouds in the area, so I waited for a long time hoping that I could get some clouds in the arch section - this was the only one I could get with a touch of clouds. An incredible volume of images, and all very well done I might add. Glad you included a bit of the foreground vegetation.
