Yosemite Autumn storm from Tunnel ViewPosted by Scott F. Schilling (San Martin, United States) on 17 April 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. I took this photograph in the fall as a storm was approaching the Yosemite area - I will post a few from that trip as I am working on some Black and White compositions from some previous photographs - just to see how they turn out - It was very windy as this storm approached but the light and clouds were quite amazing from the Tunnel View vantage point. I think the view from this location is probably the most amazing view I have ever seen. Pavan Kaul from Mumbai, IndiaAs you rightly said, this is a simply amazing view Scott! STUNNING in it's beauty and richness of detail and tones this image is certainly one of your best so far! I could hang this up and stare at it every day:) 17 Apr 2009 6:03am martie from Somewhere, United StatesBeautiful! I think the B&W really works well with the approaching storm - it's more "moody". Excellent! 17 Apr 2009 6:45am P J W Miller from Chase Terrace, United KingdomThis is one place that is on my list of places to visit, somewhere near the top. No image can be perfect but this comes a close second, I love the treatment to it, you have somehow brought it to life, The addition of the little waterfall (though probably not so small) enhances the composition, Great A+++ 17 Apr 2009 7:27am Judy from Brooksville, Florida, United StatesThis is a remarkable B/W image, Scott - one place I'm happy we got to see with our own eyes in 1980. I posted one in B/W and one in color, scans of a photo but no where near the quality of yours. 17 Apr 2009 8:26am "Marie" :-) from perth, AustraliaHi Scott, awesome photo, I can see the great textures and can even see how beautiful this place must be, even though the photo is B&W. Perfection in mono, such a powerful, dramatic, beautifully observed photograph. Pure class 17 Apr 2009 1:26pm dogilicious from Millerstown, PA, United StatesA little Ansel Adams in this! Love the waterfall in the left. Perfectly composed. 17 Apr 2009 1:32pm bluechameleon from Vancouver, CanadaAbsolutely stunning image and tones!! Ansel Adams has been mentioned in these comments, and yes, I totally agree. Superb shot and processing! 17 Apr 2009 1:39pm john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United StatesClassic, Scott. One never tires of this scene. I agree with dogilicious, when I first saw it, I thought of Adams. I personally owe more to Adams than any other photographer, living or dead. I got serious about photography when I was living in the Bay Area and started backpacking in the Sierra in the 60s (I was in my late 20s and early 30s); Adams was like God to photographers in that setting. 17 Apr 2009 1:44pm B. Thomas from Arlington, Texas, United StatesI got to see Yosemite for the first time last summer. I could gaze from Tunnel View forever. Amazing B & W shot. 17 Apr 2009 2:00pm Ajay from Pune, IndiaThis just doesn't look like a scene from this planet. This is just very sublime. And the black and white has just made so dramatic like those adventure movies from forties. 17 Apr 2009 3:00pm ZoomLNZ from Los Angeles Area, United StatesI love what you did with this image.
