First Sierra LightPosted by Scott F. Schilling (San Martin, United States) on 9 March 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. A clear dawn breaks along the crest of the High Sierra Nevada Mountains. This photograph was taken at approximately 8,000' in elevation and I had a very hard time keeping warm waiting for the sun to rise - the temperature was 3 degrees Fahrenheit. This is at the crest of the Sierra Nevada Range - about 10 miles to the east the Mountains drop dramatically to the valley floor of the Carson, Nevada area.
