Jeffrey Pine - Sentinel DomePosted by Scott F. Schilling (San Martin, United States) on 12 January 2009 in Landscape & Rural. This is what remains of the Jeffrey Pine atop Sentinel Dome which Ansel Adams photographed in one of his well known Yosemite compositions - when the tree was still living. It is sad to see such an incredible tree that survived so many years succumb to the elements. The tree died during the California drought of 1976-77. The remaining wood still shows beautiful color in the evening sunset. EXCITING NEWS - YOU CAN NOW LISTEN TO MY PODCAST AND FOLLOW ALONG WITH ME ON MY PHOTOGRAPHY ADVENTURES!

EYES WIDE SHUT from The library of my soul, United KingdomStill incredibly beautiful, set against such magnificent scenery, but as you say, so sad in terms of it's former glory. We had a magnificent Oak tree in Greenwich Park that was used by Queen Elizabeth I, as a child to play inside. It was standing all through my childhood and teens, into my twenties and then the vines supporting it collapsed and it crumble in a heap. The story lingers but the scene looks so sad.
